Questions about Hemp...
- How does hemp seed
oil help my skin?
- Hemp seed oil is high
in protein, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6,
C, D, and E and contains a high
percentage of essential fatty acids
(EFA's). EFAs
(essential fatty acids found in hemp
seed oil) are readily absorbed by sun damage, malnourished
and neglected skin. The lipid (fat)
component in hemp seed oil
permeates deep into the skin cells,
preventing these cells from drying out
and dying. This is purported to result
in younger, healthier looking skin.
- Is hemp seed oil
from the marijuana plant?
- Hemp
seed oil is obtained by cold pressing
the seeds of the cannabis sativa
plant. Hemp and marijuana are two
different varieties of cannabis, a plant
family with over 400 strains. The seeds
and oil pressed from these commercial
plants do not contain the intoxicating
qualities that the leaves produce.
And, the commercial varieties of
hemp grown for the seed are genetically
low in THC ( less than 1%) - the
drug element. THC is found primarily in
the resin of the flowering part of the
plant before the seeds are mature enough
to harvest. By the time the seeds are
ripe, resin production is low and by the
time the seeds are cleaned and washed
for pressing, they contain negligible or
no signs of THC.
- Will I fail a drug
test if I use hemp seed oil products?
- No. The washed hemp
seed does not contain THC. Sometimes
during the processing of the hemp, some
of the plant resin sticks to the seed,
causing traces of THC to appear in
the product. The amount of THC is an infinitesimal
amount and would not result in a positive
drug screen.
